I review for BookSneeze®

I got a phone call today from one of the sweetest little girls in the world. It’s hard to be at school on a beautiful day when all I want to do is play out side with two of the biggest blessings in my life: my little cousins, Lilly and Lannah. Lilly, who is 3, called to tell me that she loved me and missed me. During those two minutes I talked to her, nothing else in the world mattered. It didn’t matter that I had rushed to write a two-page review that morning or that the candy bar I had just bought melted between the bookstore and the student center or that I was about to go sit through an extremely boring class. And it didn’t matter that there were two other people sitting at the table with me; it was just me and Lilly time. Brittany, her mom, said she is in that question stage. Lilly had asked, “what would we do if we didn’t have Heather any more?” That’s the most precious thing ever! Having two little people like Lilly and Lannah love me no matter what is so amazing.

This made me start thinking. There is so much we can learn from little kids. In Matthew 18:1-4, Jesus said, “At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3and said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’” We need to be more like children. Little kids will love you no matter what. Lilly and Lannah love me when I’m in a bad mood, when I’m not wearing make up, and even when I’m telling them to be nice to each other and share. We need to love people all of the time. And we need to show our love.

“Love one another.” -1 John 4:7
